Andreas Pittler, born in Vienna in 1964, studied history and political science at the University of Vienna and then turned to journalism. Since 1985 he has published twenty-three non-fiction books, mostly on historical subjects, including biographies of Bruno Kreisky and Samuel Beckett. Beginning in 2000, he has additionally published a total of ten novels and three volumes of short stories.
Vincent Kling teaches German and comparative literature at La Salle University in Philadelphia and has published translations of German, Austrian, and Swiss authors.
